Andrea Feldman commits suicide

Bob Colacello:

[Andrea Feldman] "had first come to the attention of the Factory in 1967, in the back room of Max's Kansas City, by sitting on a coke bottle and belting out Everything's Coming up Roses. She called her porno parody of Ethel Merman 'Showtime'.... Her exhibitionism was extreme, even by Superstar standards...

He [Andy Warhol] not only turned his relentlessly voyeuristic camera on her... he also brought her to chic parties and glamorous openings, encouraging her to 'Do Showtime, do Showtime... c'mon Andrea, give us a show...

'I'm sitting on top of the world,' Andrea would sing, as she threw her skirt up and tucked a bottle inside her... 'I'm Andy Warhol's biggest Superstar,' she screamed at the Pinkerton guards who wouldn't let her into the party at Tavern on the Green after the Broadway opening of Jesus Christ Superstar. It didn't get her into the party, but the Daily News photographer snapped her making a scene, and when one of his pictures ran the next day, Andrea crowed. 'That Sylvia Miles thinks she's a big star,' she said. 'Well, I don't see her picture in the News today!'" (BC127)
