Various authors have attributed different surnames to Ingrid Superstar. Victor Bockris used "von Scheflin," David Bourdon used "von Scheven," Ultra Violet used "von Scherven" and Steven Watson used "von Schefflen."

Prior to meeting Warhol, Ingrid worked as an office temp in Manhattan. (DB222). After appearing in her final Warhol film (San Diego Surf), she disappeared during the 1980s was presumed dead, although her body was never found.

Different authors have also attributed different dates to Ingrid's disappearance. Steven Watson wrote that she disappeared on December 7, 1986 whereas Victor Bockris wrote that she disappeared in February 1987. Bourdon wrote that her disappearance occured in December 1986, without giving a specific date.

The New York Post reported her disappearance in an issue in early February 1987. Billy Name had been working on a sixties reunion of Factory regulars during the last week of January and, in a phone call to Warhol on January 26, 1987, he mentioned that Ingrid was coming to the reunion. (AWD798)

After her disappearance, Ingrid's mother took out an advertisement in a newspaper with a message to her missing daughter, asking her to "Come back so we can play 'Morning Dew' without feeling sad." (FM427)
